We all have the possibility of instantly taking, modifying and sharing our photos. More than 95 million photos and videos are posted daily on Instagram and more than 2,263 images are uploaded to Facebook every second.* Shared worldwide and easily accessible thanks to hashtags, these photos rapidly appear and disappear, subject to “likes” and the trends of the moment.
The installation #ceciestimportant, together with Happy City Lab, offers the opportunity to reflect on the fleeting impact of images published on the social networks and to focus on this new phenomenon, this extreme popularization of photography in a place like a museum, which is in contrast with this trend.
LabElysée is the museum’s new space dedicated to digital culture. A living laboratory at the heart of the museum, LabElysée questions the way that a cultural institution dedicated to photography plays with new technologies.
