Luis Molina-Pantin, Thierry Bouët, Lebohang Kganye, Thierry Struvay, Adrian Hermanides, Meng Minsheng, Zhang Yaxin, Paul Bogaers, Mary Hamill, Jill Quigley, Les Krims & Suzi Pilet.
In an era of massive flows of digital images, photography has never so much travelled or generated so many artistic projects. Which notably explains why the present issue presents its set unusual original portfolios: Thierry Bouët offers insight into his current series in progress, reflecting about the life of individuals who live on a slanted plane; Paul Bogaers disconcerts us with his trompe-l’oeil photographs and their literally materialized frames; Jill Quigley revitalizes old cottages in her native Northern Ireland, while her compatriot Mary Hamill reveals a very personal bouquet of tulips.
ELSE #11 - June 2016
A trilingual review launched in 2011 by the Musée de l’Elysée, ELSE explores photography in all of its diversity and questions the new and changing ways in which we gaze at images. In each issue, ELSE features original portfolios and shows the many facets of emerging photography.
A collector’s item with radical design and authentic curatorial platform supported by international photography specialists, the review emphasizes discoveries. Brief and efficient texts supplement the portfolios and allow images to fully express themselves, while a central portfolio dedicated to the Museum’s Collections provides some historical background to these contemporary series.
Its biannual release matches two major events marking the international photography calendar: the Rencontres d’Arles in July, and Paris Photo in November.
ELSE is available by subscription and at fine bookstores.
Scince 2015, ELSE is under the direction of Tatyana Franck. As a participative platform, ELSE has an editorial committee composed of:
