The artist Wojciech Zamecznik (1923–1967) was an influential figure on the postwar Polish art scene. He is famous for his numerous posters, and his sphere of activity covered publishing, music, cinema and exhibition design. Zamecznik was a pioneer in combining photography with graphic art.
The catalogue presents the multidisciplinary and experimental nature of Wojciech Zamecznik’s photographic work. It includes a study of Zamecznik’s photographic techniques (Anne Lacoste), a biography (Karolina Puchała-Rojek), an essay presenting the Polish art scene in Zamecznik’s day (Agnieszka Szewczyk) and another on the background of the photography scene (Karolina Ziębińska-Lewandowska).
The book accompagnies the exhibition Wojciech Zamecznik: Photography in all its forms on view form September 21 until December 31, 2016 at the Musée de l'Elysée.
